The strangest dream I've had

In general, I don't repeat dreams, when I wake up I forget what I dreamed in the night, but when I was between four and five years old the situation was different. For several nights I dreamed a nightmare that I remember until today. I don't remember if I had this dream several nights in a row or if I dreamed a couple of times in those years. In fact, I'm not even sure I'm that age when I had this nightmare but I always remember how it started ... I wake up, there is a cloud over me and in the cloud there is a mouse. I see this image as a hologram, it doesn't move, it's just over me. Suddenly, the floor opens next to my crib (I slept in a crib until I was 6 years) and a dog get up of the floor. But it was not like a dog, rather it was a hairy and wild figure that it was traying to remove my pacifier (I used  pacifier until 5 year although my family tried to remove me it before). I was struggling with this figure for my dear pacifier. Suddenly.... I don't...

A Subject you've enjoyed this semester

The Subject that I love it this semester is Social History of Chile. In the class we don't make so much, the teacher speaks and we hear him. The class can sound boring but it doesn’t be. In this class I cried, laughed and surprised because the content and how the teacher speak makes me reconsider what I have been taught in lasts years and how I have seen the history of the country. In this class we have seen the configuration of a "popular subject". Being a mestizo, moving from the countryside to the city and facing an unequal city, they was building a popular identity between the autonomy of the countryside and new forms of work. I have understood that the "urban poor" are historical and political actors (they have a proposal of State and society built by an organization). After taking ground, confrontation and organization, they are the ones who built the cities we see and walk today. I like the subject Social History of Chile because through the sto...

Jane Addams-Experts in Social Work

Imagen
Jane Addams is a pioneer in Social Work. She was born in Illinois, United States in 1986. After leaving her medical studies for an operation to the spine, she had her first approach with what she would do during her life when she was on her trip in Londres. In that city it belonged to the settlement groups who worked in poor sectors for the industrial revolution. The important thing about these groups is that they criticized having to moralize the poor, they had the logic of living in the place and working with the people to get out of poverty. So Addams brought that idea to the city of Chicago, where he created one of his most important works, the Hull House. The university students came to this house and had another way of seeing poverty because it wasn't t enough with charity, they had to think about projects together to solve the real needs of the people who lived in those sectors. I think her idea of "4p" is very important: practice, pluralism, participation a...
