A Subject you've enjoyed this semester

The Subject that I love it this semester is Social History of Chile. In the class we don't make so much, the teacher speaks and we hear him. The class can sound boring but it doesn’t be. In this class I cried, laughed and surprised because the content and how the teacher speak makes me reconsider what I have been taught in lasts years and how I have seen the history of the country.

In this class we have seen the configuration of a "popular subject". Being a mestizo, moving from the countryside to the city and facing an unequal city, they was building a popular identity between the autonomy of the countryside and new forms of work. I have understood that the "urban poor" are historical and political actors (they have a proposal of State and society built by an organization). After taking ground, confrontation and organization, they are the ones who built the cities we see and walk today.

I like the subject Social History of Chile because through the stories of settlers who tell our the teacher, I feel that it is my story, what my grandparents and great grandparents lived. This isn't taught in schools because, as the teacher says, only the winners are talked about, the heroes and patriots. In this subject I have learned from the untold story, the story of the chilean people.
